Brazil’s women’s national football team has learned who it will face in its first friendly matches of 2026.
The Seleção will take on Costa Rica, Venezuela, and Mexico between late February and early March. All matches will be played away from home, according to an announcement made by the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) on Monday (February 2).
“Having these three matches during this FIFA window is very important,” said Cris Gambaré, CBF’s coordinator for women’s national teams.
“We will face national teams that are experiencing strong growth in women’s football, each with different playing models. That presents challenges that are essential for our planning and for the preparation process of the Brazilian team this year, also with an eye on the 2027 World Cup in Brazil.”
The first match will be against Costa Rica on February 27, at 5:00 p.m. EST, in the city of Alajuela.
The Costa Ricans were semifinalists in the most recent CONCACAF Women’s Championship, in 2022, when they were eliminated by the United States, who went on to win the title.
On March 4, at 1:00 p.m. EST, Brazil will face Venezuela at the Mexican Football Federation’s training center in Toluca.
Three days later, at 3:00 p.m. EST, the Seleção will take on Mexico—current Pan American champions—in Mexico City.
